A story of hospitality
Welcome to my blog, this blog will be a quick overview of my company and how it came to be. My name is Joshua Alvarez-Cordova or as some of my friends and regulars have come to call me "Alvy". "Odie's Opulence" was named after my grandmother Odilia "Odie" Cordova, throughout my life my grandmother was one of the most selfless and inspirational people in our family's life. Always quick to help, never one to judge. She opened a restaurant when we were younger and made some of the best food you'll ever taste (homestyle cooking). Growing up around a kitchen and realizing how much I loved the act of services. Always wanting to run food, refill drinks, or just take care of her guests like they were my own family transpired into a gift as I grew older. I've always wanted to recreate my own version of what a hospitality brand should be, so I studied under some of the best in the business. Working over 13 years in the service industry and wanting to try things out on my own. I started toying with the idea of mobile bartending and in 2019 when one of my regulars (mike) asked me to come on my own accord to his gym and bartend a client appreciation party. I fell in love with it needless to say. I was working at my usual spot for close to 8 years, "Gringo's" and after an extremely tough year with a family circumstance (that's a whole other blog) in November 2023, it was my time to go and do things on my own. Let me tell you, it's tough but so worth it. Get out of your comfort zone, try something new, drink the drink, do that one thing you've always wanted to do, learn that skill, spend time with the people you love. I've spent some time finding myself again in a new role as a father to Emile "Odie".... see what we did there?

What separates us from other services?
Our brand focuses on providing the best in the industry (award winning craft bartenders, court of maser licensed sommeliers, cicerone certified beer enthusiast) for the best clients (you reading this right now). We give them the tools to do what they love to do, for people who love the results of their craft and dedication. We want to provide a safe space for every event and educate those interested in what we do, without all the stuffy passive aggressiveness that sometimes seeps through this industry.
